In October of 2022, UGA Junior Jack TerHaar decided to weave his entrepreneurial spirit into a business as his beloved school. Detail Dawgs was more than just an automotive detailing business; it was a passion project, a tribute to family, and a commitment to making a difference.
Jack, hailing from a family with a rich history of entrepreneurship, understood the value of hard work and hustle. Inspired by his roots, he founded Detail Dawgs with a vision to set a standard of excellence in the service industry and provide top-notch automotive detailing while creating a positive impact in the community.
The story of Detail Dawgs is intertwined with Jack's personal journey and his sister's struggle with Alopecia Areata. Witnessing her battle against the autoimmune disorder that led to hair loss, Jack found a cause close to his heart. Determined to make a difference, he decided that a portion of Detail Dawgs' proceeds would go to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, contributing to research and support for those affected by the disorder.
Detail Dawgs has quickly become a buzz around the Athens commnuity. It's attracting not only car enthusiasts but also individuals who wanted to support a business with a purpose. Jack's commitment to community impact resonated with the people of Athens, and soon, Detail Dawgs became a symbol of responsible and socially conscious entrepreneurship.
The business has grown, serving UGA athletes and professors alike. The Detail Dawgs team, comprised of skilled UGA students experienced in the detailing industry, bring a youthful energy to every project. Their attention to detail and passion for the craft have become the hallmark of Detail Dawgs' service.
In the end, Detail Dawgs has become more than a business. It's a testament to dedication, a reflection of a family's entrepreneurial legacy, and a source of support for a personal cause. As he's navigated the challenges of his senior year at UGA, Jack's journey with Detail Dawgs exemplified the power of business to drive positive change and leave a lasting impact on both the local community and beyond.
Upon graduation in May, Jack and his team plan to take the business full-time.
Jack is a senior at UGA studying Finance and Real Estate. Growing up, he worked countless hours in his parents' small service businesses. After struggling to find meaningful ways to work and help pay for college expenses, he started Detail Dawgs. Now, he wears the hats of being a full-time student and full-time entrepreneur, but he wouldn't have it any other way.
Perry is a freshman at UGA studying biological science. His background in detailing and entrepreneurship make him a pivotal asset to our business. At just 14 years old, he started his own successful detailing company in his hometown of Valdosta, GA. Outside of school and work, he's involved in Greek life and volunteer work within Athens.
Ian is a recent graduate of UGA with a degree in Finance. He's a proven leader, having held multiple leadership positions within the Terry College of Business's student organizations. When asked why Detail Dawgs, Ian said, "it was the perfect way to bridge the gap to my full-time position through enhancing my attention to detail and improving client relationship skills".
Because of family ties to Alopecia Areata, a percentage of all of our profits are going towards research and awareness through the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. For more information on this cause, please click below.
